Art Direction

It was a dream to be brought on for the Pure Michigan shoot! I grew up hearing and watching the commercials so I felt lucky to have a hand in making the look feel just right. My role as wardrobe stylist had its challenges as it was fairly warm during our ‘autumn’ shoot. Styling for each scene I was able to create the illusion of cozy Michigan through the direction of wardrobe and styling.

Rice-A-Roni brought me on as the art director for this shoot with Jerry Rice. I wanted to create a set that felt cohesive with Rice-A-Roni’s branding but not blatantly Rice-A-Roni. I brought in sleek modern pieces that created the feel of a fully stocked kitchen while offering pops of color to enhance the branding. Jerry was a blast to work with and during one of the scenes I was even able to be the one to throw him the box of Rice-A-Roni!

This shoot was to be shown in Europe, so styling the set and wardrobe to look this way in the heart of Chicago created some new obstacles. Bringing in loads of fresh fruit, bread, and flowers I created a french style market in the middle of an outdoor mall. The apartment we filmed in was completely transformed into a European style flat. From knick knacks, to glassware, to hardware, to every piece of furniture we were able to create the illusion that we were in the middle of Europe. Working one on one with talent I had the opportunity to style them each to tie together each scene. Overall, this two day shoot was a success and I was lucky to work with the team!
